Data licensing, in plain English.

29 terms you will hear when you license business records.

A

Anonymisation
Data that can no longer be linked to a person by any reasonable means. Removing names alone does not achieve it.
Ask
The price a seller may set for a listing. It is optional, and buyers see it on the card.

B

Bid window
The time a listing takes bids: 14 days from listing. The seller may extend it once.

C

Card
The de-identified summary of a listing that buyers see. The seller reads and approves it before it shows.

D

Data licence
Written permission for a buyer to use an agreed copy of your records for agreed purposes. You keep ownership of the original records.
Dataset
A defined set of records prepared for a task, with a description of what it contains and what was left out.
De-identification
Removing or replacing details that identify people or companies, such as names, emails, and account numbers.
De-identified
Names, addresses, and one-of-a-kind figures are removed from what buyers see. Removing names does not make records anonymous.
Deal partner
The partner a business named as the one who brought it to Korra. Paid a share of Korra’s fee when its deal closes.

E

Evaluation
A test that checks how well an AI system does a task, using examples with a known good result. Also called an eval.
Exclusive licence
You agree not to license the same records to anyone else, for a set time or a set use.

L

Listing
One coherent package of records a seller offers on the Korra marketplace, described in the seller's own words.

M

Manifest
A summary of a dataset for buyers: sources, dates, record counts, fields, and exclusions. It describes the data without sharing it.

N

Net 30
Payment is due 30 days after the agreed trigger, such as delivery or invoice. The trigger is set in the written terms.
Non-exclusive licence
You may license the same records to more than one buyer. Each agreement says what that buyer may do.

P

Partner line
The three partners above a deal partner, each one the person whose partner link the one below signed up through. Paid a smaller share by level.
Partner points
The credit a partner receives the day Korra is paid its fee, one point to the dollar, cashed out within seven days.
Partner pool
A share of every fee Korra receives, split among every partner who closed a deal in the last 12 months.
Permitted use
The specific things a buyer may do with the records, such as training or testing an AI system. Anything else needs new permission.
Practice environment
A simulated workplace where an AI agent tries tasks and gets scored. Realistic records help it look like real work.
Pseudonymisation
Replacing identifiers with labels while a separate key could link them back. It reduces risk but is not full anonymity.

R

Record
One item of work history, such as an email thread, a support ticket, a deal note, or a document.
Replacement label
A stand-in such as Person 17 or Company 04, used the same way every time so the work still makes sense.

S

Sample review
A buyer checks a small, agreed set of prepared records before a full agreement. The terms of the sample are agreed first.
Sealed bid
An offer for a listing that only the seller sees. Each buyer sees only their own bids. A bid is an offer, not a contract.
Source inventory
A short list of where your records live, how far back they go, who owns them, and any limits on sharing.

T

Terms sheet
A summary of an accepted bid. It names the seller and the buyer to each other for the first time. It is not a contract.
Training data
Examples an AI system learns from. Complete examples of real work teach more than isolated messages.
