What could your business data be worth?
The buyer’s needs, useful detail, and sharing rights all matter.
Begin with a buyer task
A buyer needs data for a specific task. The records must fit that task before a price discussion is useful.
Describe the work your records show, not just how many files you have.
Assess six practical factors
Check whether the records fit the task, include a result, and are accurate. These are different questions from how much data exists.
Also check permission to share and whether a buyer needs this data now.
Know who does the preparation
Selecting, checking, and formatting records takes work. Agree with the buyer who does it and who pays for it.
Payment may depend on approval or delivery. Put those conditions in writing before you proceed.
Ask for a defined proposal
Compare the allowed uses and restrictions as well as the price. Ask who can access, keep, or pass on the data.
Confirm how and when payment is due. An assessment does not guarantee earnings.
